I boarded a flight out of San Diego headed for Chicago.
It was my first time flying Spirit. Paid for my bag to be checked.
Got on my flight. Had a connecting flight in Baltimore. Then went on to Chicago. Flight arrived half hour early but no gate was available so was stuck on the runway for half and hour. And we arrived late…
Had to go to the bathroom. Went to baggage claim. No luggage. Went to Spirit Baggage Claim office. 3 people not including me were missing their luggage.
Spirit guessed our luggage wasn’t taken off and so was headed to New Orleans. But as it turned out my luggage was taken off and put on a flight to Orlando.
My luggage was supposed to be delivered today. I had asked for them to deliver it. Didn’t want to pay tollroads to go back to airport to get it. They said they would mail out my luggage Monday.
It was to arrive by 10am today. Never came. Contacted both airline and FedEx. Both said they didn’t have my luggage.
I calculated the cost of my medicine, $800. Then calculate a few of the items that were in my luggage including luggage and got to $500. Mentioned that to both. Magically my luggage was found. I’ll be getting it tomorrow.
Here is my advice. When flying no name airlines with your baggage. Don’t check it. Spirit has a few gates at each airport. So their turnaround time is quick so things like missing baggage happens more than at Delta or United.
I plan on flying Frontier back. Which again is a small airline. I’m paying more to carry on my bag. Than checking it. Because I don’t want my luggage mishandled again.
Now I normally only do carry on. I also fly one way. It tends to be cheaper than round trip. I only fly round trip if I add in a hotel. I also don’t pack a lot because I know I’ll buy stuff.
Think of the small things before you fly. I checked my medicine because I have a lot and didn’t want to have to deal with it in my purse.
So next time I know no more checked bags
